Biography
Born in 1988 and based in Nantes, LadyBug turned to art at twenty-seven after a decade working as a graphic designer. The discovery of street art triggered an immediate shift, and from 2016 she developed a distinctive hand-cut stencil technique that merges pointillism with sharp tonal contrasts. Her portraits, built from a single stencil layer pierced with hundreds of tiny holes, capture light on faces with a graphic precision rooted in her design background.
Initially drawn to the way light sculpts darker skin tones, the artist focused on Afro portraits before expanding her range of subjects. She photographs her own models — friends, acquaintances, strangers — to study expressions and shadow play. In 2020 she launched "Golden Age," a collective residency bringing together 28 artists in Orvault. Her public-space work includes the redesign of a basketball court in Nantes' Boissière neighbourhood.
Across stencil, spray and brush, LadyBug builds a meditative body of work centred on bodily reclamation and self-acceptance. Visible in Nantes, Paris and Bordeaux, her practice insists that the street remains the most democratic gallery of all.
