Kalouf

Pascal Lambert, known as Kalouf, was born on 31 January 1978 in Port-Gentil, Gabon, where he grew up surrounded by abundant wildlife — his father, a reptile specialist, took in injured animals. After relocating to France, he immersed himself in graffiti in the late 1990s, honing his aerosol technique over a decade with the ACC crew and later the 3 Barons collective. In 2014 he co-founded BLAST Art with sculptor Romain Lardanchet, a structure that enabled large-scale ambitions.

Recognition came in 2019 with "Guérilla Urbaine," a 2,000 m² mural spanning the facade of the former Novotel at Lyon Part-Dieu, completed in three weeks with spray paint alone. That same year, the artist won a silver medal at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in the Carrousel du Louvre for a life-size rhinoceros sculpture titled "Sudan," created with fellow artist Pant in tribute to the last male northern white rhino.

A specialist in monumental murals populated by hyperrealistic animals, Kalouf places his art in the service of ecological advocacy. Gorillas, foxes, fish: every Lyon wall he claims becomes a silent plea for biodiversity, driven by the conviction that "in fifty years we have destroyed half the planet."
