Biography
Originally from the Nord-Isère region, C4pie — a childhood nickname spelled out in the Greek letters κ and π — settled in Lyon in the early 2010s and adopted the mushroom as his emblem on his very first graffiti outing. Neither animal nor plant, the motif embodies mystery, life and death, and threads through a dreamlike universe where nature reclaims concrete. A painter and graffiti artist, he weaves luminescent fungi, cosmic landscapes and female portraits into compositions steeped in flora.
First exhibited in Lyon in 2014, the artist quickly broadened his reach: Hong Kong in 2015, the launch of his Colora Art studio-gallery that same year, and appearances at the Peinture Fraiche festival, where he won the Public Prize in 2020. In 2025 he was named laureate of the OMART competition by public vote, paving the way for a major solo exhibition. Alongside his mural practice he teaches graffiti and visual arts in schools, community centres and correctional facilities.
An advocate for "educational graffiti" — images that carry meaning and knowledge — C4pie sees every wall as a tool for awareness and social connection. Embedded in Lyon's urban art scene alongside BlastArt and the WBC crew, his work aims to make city spaces more welcoming by reintroducing nature at once familiar and fantastical.
