Biography
Andrés Sánchez-Ocaña Núñez, known as Misterpiro, was born in 1994 in Plasencia, Cáceres, Spain. He first encountered graffiti at age eleven in his hometown and quickly adopted the name "Piro," which has remained his artistic identity ever since. He went on to study graphic design at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he began merging spray painting with watercolour and acrylic techniques.
His practice gradually shifted from figurative work to abstraction, driven by an intuitive process in which atmospheric backgrounds became as central as the subjects themselves. Working across canvas, wood, paper and walls, he combines enamel paint, aerosol, markers and collage. In 2017, Forbes Spain named him among its 30 Under 30 for his contribution to the visual arts.
Now based in a Carabanchel studio in Madrid, the artist has painted large-scale murals in London, Rome, Lisbon, New Delhi, Seoul and New York. His recent work extends into installation, incorporating textiles and paper to move beyond the two-dimensional surface and fully engage architectural space.
