Biography
Nina Valkhoff is a muralist and illustrator born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1983. After studying at the Willem de Kooning Academy, she began painting large-scale murals in the early 2000s. Her work blends realism with a dreamlike quality, centring on wildlife — often endangered species — as a quiet form of artivism that brings nature into urban spaces.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, she has painted walls in fifteen countries across Europe, North and South America, and the Caribbean. Collaborations with organisations such as PETA, Dove, The Body Shop and Red Bull have expanded her reach, while her Rotterdam fox mural earned a nomination for Best Mural of the World 2023 by Street Art Cities.
Her paintings are held in the permanent collection of the STRAAT museum in Amsterdam, and in 2024 she presented work to the Spanish and Dutch royal families during the museum's "Duo" exhibition. Based in Rotterdam, the artist continues to celebrate biodiversity on towering city walls, reminding passersby of the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world.
