Biography

Sbuone, whose first name is Fabien, is a French artist who has been based in Montreal since 2003. He drew compulsively from childhood, moving from school notebooks to painting walls across French cities from 1998, then to the graphic tablet while studying design. In Montreal, he developed a practice that blends abstract graffiti, comic-book characters and illustration, working freelance as an illustrator, graphic designer, photographer and muralist.

A turning point came in 2016 during a trip to Mexico with fellow artists, where he painted numerous murals and refined his approach to colour and large-scale composition. His visual world combines zoomorphic characters, ancient symbols and organic forms, exploring emotion through a style he describes as timeless. He also practises tattooing, creates stickers and publishes zines, sustaining a multidisciplinary output.

The artist took part in Montreal's Festival MURAL in 2017 and in the Under Pressure graffiti festival. His public works are listed by Art Public Montréal, including "Les oubliés du ciel" and "Pau." He has also collaborated with MU and created a piece at the Pointe-à-Callière museum.
