Jason Wasserman

Jason Wasserman

Biography

Born and raised in Montreal, Jason Wasserman developed an early obsession with comic books and illustration. After earning a BFA from Concordia University, he launched a freelance illustration career in 2004, specialising in screen printing for the apparel industry. His style is defined by bold black lines and a stark black-and-white aesthetic drawn from American comics of the 1970s and 1980s.

In 2010, he turned to mural painting by joining the En Masse collective, contributing to over a hundred collaborative murals and eventually becoming co-director of operations in Montreal. His graphic universe pays tribute to the city — its architecture, neighbourhoods, and people — through narrative compositions that read as illustrated love letters to the Quebec metropolis.

The artist has worked with clients including the Montreal Canadiens, Ubisoft, Google, Shopify, Cirque du Soleil, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. He is a regular participant in the Festival MURAL and shows at Station 16 Gallery. His work — spanning screen prints, paintings, and murals — has been exhibited internationally.
