Julian Palma

Biography

Originally from Colombia, Julian Palma is a multidisciplinary artist who moved to Montreal in 2011 and quickly became part of the city's cultural life. Trained as an illustrator, he worked for publishing houses in Colombia, Spain, and Canada before turning to mural painting. He created his first large-scale mural in the summer of 2015 with MU, Montreal's public art organisation, and has since taken on numerous projects as both creator and coordinator.

His murals, marked by vibrant colours and an aesthetic that is both contemplative and warm, can be found across several Montreal neighbourhoods. Notable works with MU include "Alegría" (2015), "Mémoire du cœur" (2016) for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, "Magical Feeling" (2019), and "Nacimiento" (2023). In 2019, he painted a mural honouring missing boy Ariel Kouakou in Rosemont, a personal project reflecting his community engagement. He also participates in the Festival MURAL and continues his illustration and video work.
