Biography
Active since the late 1990s, Omen is a defining figure of Montreal's urban landscape. Moving from traditional graffiti writing to figurative mural work, he developed an instantly recognisable style — portraits often rendered in stark black and white, with a dark, haunted quality, executed in aerosol paint. His approach blurs the line between graffiti and contemporary art, earning respect from both the vandal community and the gallery world. He delivered a TEDx talk entitled "Graffiti is not the problem."
Regarded as Montreal's most prolific muralist before leaving the city in 2016, the artist's reputation grew far beyond Quebec with commissions across Canada, the United States, and internationally. He has participated in the Festival MURAL and shown in galleries across North America and Asia. His work also extends to oil painting, prints, and unconventional surfaces such as skateboards.
