Biography
Born in 1978 in Requena, a small town in the Valencian hinterland, Duke103 discovered graffiti at the age of eleven after watching a music video and began spray-painting in 1991. Self-taught, he settled in Valencia where he has spent over thirty years developing a dual practice as graffiti artist and tattoo artist, the latter allowing him to make a living from art while honing his realistic style.
His work ranges from multi-storey murals to playful interventions on street furniture — electrical boxes, glass containers — which he transforms into animals or characters in what he calls "street soul." The artist favours improvisation and spontaneity, letting each wall guide the composition. His themes are firmly engaged: social crisis, corruption, capitalism, and political and religious power.
A regular at international graffiti gatherings, he insists on complete creative freedom and turns down commercial commissions that conflict with his vision. Curious beyond painting, he also pursues stereoscopic photography and origami, feeding a visual world that extends well past the wall.
