Biography

Born Ángel Caballero Rioja in 1982 in L'Alcúdia de Crespins, a small village in the Valencian Community, Xolaka moved to Valencia at eighteen to study fine arts at the San Carlos Faculty of the Polytechnic University, graduating in 2007. His calling as a muralist emerged on arriving by train and seeing the painted walls of the Malilla neighbourhood for the first time.

Trained in multimedia design, web design and sculpture, the artist now focuses on large-scale mural painting. His style, which he describes as emotional realism, centres on hyperrealistic portraits infused with social commentary and urban narrative. He regularly paints self-portraits in everyday scenes, blurring the line between the intimate and the public space.

Active across Spain, he produces murals for municipalities and festivals, tackling subjects from local wildlife to cultural heritage tributes. His collaborative projects sometimes exceed 1,600 square metres, reflecting an ambition that pairs community engagement with pictorial rigour.
