Julieta xlf

Biography

Born Julia Silla in Valencia in 1982, Julieta XLF holds a fine arts degree and a master's in illustration from the San Carlos Faculty of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She began painting in the streets in 2004 as part of the XLF Crew, a Valencian collective she shares with Deih, Escif, Sr. Marmota and other local artists.

Her world is defined by naive, colourful characters — often girls with closed eyes and vaguely oriental features, close to Japanese kawaii aesthetics. Inspired by nature, the artist works in warm, luminous palettes, aiming to spark smiles and empathy in passers-by. Optimism and joy form the foundation of her visual language.

Active far beyond Valencia, she has painted in Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Belgium and London. She received the acquisition prize at the Vila de Paterna Painting Biennial in 2006 and the Bancaja Prize in 2008. Her work is held in the Centre del Carme collection, and she has produced a mural for the María Moliner library at the University of Valencia.
