Biography
Born Barbara Sebastian, Barbi — also known as Barbiturikills — is a Valencian artist with a fine arts degree and a master's in graphic design from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. A graphic designer by trade, she began painting in the streets in 2008 after sharing a studio with the XLF Crew, who taught her spray techniques and welcomed her into their collective.
Her signature is an omnipresent pink rabbit, sometimes accompanied by a small white duck, staged in ironic compositions grouped under the title Pesimismo Mágico. Behind the humour and apparent lightness lies a committed voice on feminism, climate change, politics and social injustice. The artist sums up her philosophy in three words: revolution, humour and love.
Her bunnies, now among the most recognisable symbols of Valencian street art, appear on city walls and in galleries alike. Featured on feminist urban art routes through Valencia, she is one of the artists who helped place the local street art scene on the international map.
