Biography
Nosbé is a French urban artist based in Paris, a member of the PPA crew (Petites Peintures entre Amis — Little Paintings Among Friends), a collective from the southern suburbs of Paris. His practice sits halfway between graffiti and street art, guided by the Latin motto "Nulla dies sine linea" — no day without a line. He met Shaka (Marchal Mithouard), founder of the DKP crew, at fine arts school in 2000, and the two have collaborated regularly since.
His singular world is populated by grimacing faces and imaginary animals — grotesque and unsettling — that he deploys on the walls of abandoned places and industrial wastelands. A painter and illustrator, he weaves compositions binding ornamental elements with hybrid, almost living forms, most often in sharply contrasted black and white. His influences span the art brut of Jean Dubuffet, the graphic universe of Robert Crumb and heavy metal album covers.
He held his first solo exhibition, "Bestivités," at Le Cabinet d'Amateur in Paris, featuring around twenty works of fauna and flora in his trademark style. Recent projects include the travelling show "La Forêt Escargot" (2022), the Shake Art Festival in Saint-Brieuc (2024) and murals at the Babcock industrial site. With the PPA, he produces collaborative "cadavres exquis" combining meticulous detail with rich colour.
