Biography
Born in 1976 in Vevey, Switzerland, the artist grew up influenced by his grandfather Paul Urfer, a ceramicist honoured as one of France's finest craftsmen in 1972. Immersed in hip-hop and skateboard culture during his teenage years, he began experimenting with graffiti lettering at fourteen. He settled in the Nantes area in 2001 and has been based in Rezé ever since.
His practice evolved from lettering into a multidisciplinary approach combining collages, stickers, paintings and land art. The discovery of stencil cutting in 2006 proved a turning point: he developed hand-cut, often life-size pieces addressing political and social issues. In parallel, he has humorously modified over 1,300 traffic signs across 43 countries using handmade adhesive cut-outs.
Jinks Kunst has produced striking works including a Serge Gainsbourg portrait assembled from 20,000 cigarette filters and a Nelson Mandela built from 10,000 Lego bricks. Selected for the Paris Graffiti and Street Art Prize in 2021, he continues to pursue humanitarian projects in Kurdistan, Lebanon and Africa, combining mural creation with community workshops.
