Biography

Born in 1988, the artist grew up in Limoges before settling in Angoulême, where he lives and works. Self-taught, he started painting outdoors around 2008 through graffiti while practising drawing and painting since childhood. His work moves fluidly between spray can and brush, street and canvas, lettering and figuration.

His art explores memory, abandonment and the passage of time. He draws on film photographs from the 1920s to the 1980s to paint portraits of former inhabitants in derelict spaces. His mural "La Débauche", visible from the Paris–Bordeaux high-speed train near Angoulême, embodies this approach of urban archaeology. In 2015, he published his first book compiling two years of work, followed by two volumes on his grandfather's biography and freight train graffiti.

Kegrea works across a wide range of surfaces — oil on canvas, acrylic on walls, cars, freight wagons, tattoos and dioramas. Exhibited at Galerie des Remparts, Bordeaux's B-612 gallery and held in the Artothèque de Grand Poitiers collection, he combines a grounded mural practice with studio work steeped in nostalgia and visual poetry.
