Biography

Born in 1990 in Nanterre near Paris, the artist grew up immersed in 1990s hip-hop culture. He placed his first tags on school walls in Grenoble in 1995 and co-founded PsyKopat Crew (PK) with graffiti writers Steck and R.One. From 1996 to 2000, the crew painted walls, trains, trams and motorways around the Grenoble area.

A trip to São Paulo, Brazil proved a turning point: he left aerosol cans behind and shifted towards street art. An avid vinyl record collector, he stumbled upon his signature technique when he discovered that heating a disc with a hair dryer makes it malleable and sculptable. The find became the foundation of his practice — silhouettes of birds and bats cut from vinyl records, appearing to break free from their circular form and take flight across urban walls.

His first installations appeared on the streets of Lyon in late 2011, particularly on the slopes of Croix-Rousse where they became a familiar sight. Kesa has since spread his work to Corsica and cities across France, paying tribute to the music that remains his primary inspiration. His vinyl creations have been featured by My Modern Met and documented on Street Art Avenue and ArtMajeur.
