Le Diamantaire

Le Diamantaire

Biography

Born in Caen in 1987, the artist discovered street art in the early 2000s through a magazine photograph of an Obey piece. He took up graffiti and quickly covered the walls of his hometown before turning to stencil work, seeking a more figurative and striking form of expression. Training in metalwork and then boilermaking gave him hands-on skills that would later shape his practice. He moved to Paris in 2008 and studied visual communication.

In 2011, his first recycled-mirror diamonds appeared on Parisian walls. The technique is distinctive: mirrors salvaged from the street are cut and assembled into two-dimensional diamond shapes, then painted and numbered. The strong symbol — the diamond as an ephemeral urban jewel — became his signature. In 2013, he held his first solo show "Atelier" at Galerie Derouillon in Paris, exploring engraving, mosaic, wood and metal. In 2014, a patron provided him with a 900-square-metre studio.

His creations now adorn walls in New York, Montreal, Los Angeles, Miami and Zurich. Invited to Montreal's MURAL festival in 2014 and shown at Galerie Gabel on the Côte d'Azur, he maintains a practice that moves fluidly between street and gallery settings.
