Biography

Originally from Caen in Normandy, the artist began doing graffiti in 1989 and spent a decade painting across European cities. He also pursued university studies in history and geography, driven by a desire to travel and explore other cultures. During a first trip to Mexico in 1998, he encountered Quetzalcóatl, the feathered serpent of pre-Columbian mythology — a figure that became the emblem of his artistic world after a year-long stay in Mexico in 2004.

His work spans a wide range of media: aerosol murals, stencils, paste-ups of feathered serpents hand-cut from painted and varnished wood, as well as neon installations, silkscreen prints and tufted rugs. His themes range from prehistoric art to cinema, Greco-Roman antiquity to Arabic calligraphy, Japanese art to social commentary. Over 2,000 handcrafted Quetzalcóatl pieces have been scattered across some fifty cities worldwide.

Oré now divides his time between Normandy and Arizona. He takes on official mural commissions and exhibits in France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua and Japan, working with galleries Urbaneez, We Need Art and Voar.
