Michael Kershnar

Biography

Originally from Irvine, California, the artist grew up skateboarding, drawing and listening to rock from primary school onward. His aesthetic was shaped by 1980s and 1990s skateboard graphics, with Ed Templeton as a guiding influence. He worked at Visalia Skate Camp in the 1990s, rubbing shoulders with his skate heroes. He has produced illustrations for brands including Toy Machine, Element, Volcom, Baker and Anti Hero, as well as for musicians such as the Beastie Boys, Morrissey and the Grateful Dead. His writing and artwork appear regularly in Thrasher Magazine.
