Biography

Mikael Guedes de Oliveira, known as Omik, was born and raised in Ceilândia, a satellite city of Brasilia. He developed an interest in art from the age of six and began painting the walls of the Brazilian capital at seventeen. By twenty-three, he was living solely from his art. The early loss of his parents deeply shaped his path, and graffiti became a channel for expression and resilience.

His style is defined by characters with large expressive eyes, vivid colours and striking realism. His murals blend social commentary with visual poetry, bringing Brasilia's walls to life through organic figures marked by movement and softness. He regularly collaborates with Daniel Toys, whose geometric approach complements his own. Together they merge pop art, graffiti, cartoons and Brazilian folk art.

After gaining recognition across the Federal District, Omik expanded internationally — painting in Paris, London, Hamburg and Portugal. In 2016, he held his first solo exhibition in Brasilia. His work has been covered by Correio Braziliense, Metrópoles and Agência Brasília, and documented by GPS Brasília.
