Biography
Semor is a French urban artist based in Nantes, active since the early 2010s. His work is characterised by an extremely detailed drawing style built on accumulations of everyday objects and fragments, an approach that echoes the spirit of the Nouveau Réalisme movement. He primarily produces large-scale murals, often in black and white or featuring imaginative creatures woven into urban references.
Together with fellow graffiti artist Ador, he forms one of the most recognised duos on the Nantes scene. For over a decade, the pair have created monumental frescoes that merge Ador's cartoon-inspired aesthetic with Semor's raw, meticulous linework. In 2016, their project "Parade, Balade et Distorsion," commissioned as part of Le Voyage à Nantes, saw a series of murals painted across neighbourhoods in Nantes, Orvault, Rezé and Saint-Herblain, each designed in collaboration with local residents.
Beyond their home city, the duo has taken part in international festivals in China, Slovakia and Canada. Their work is held by galleries including Vertical Gallery in Chicago, Rocha Art Gallery in San Francisco and l'Azart Gallery in New York. Independently, Semor also collaborates with other Nantes-based artists such as Persu, with whom he produced a mural on rue du Port-au-Vin featuring iconic city landmarks.
