Biography
Jessy Monlouis-Bonnaire, of Martinican origin, was born in Paris in 1984. Immersed in the visual arts from a young age, this self-taught artist spent a year in a preparatory class for applied arts before learning her craft on the streets. She discovered aerosol spray in 2006, a turning point that steered her firmly towards graffiti. Influenced by the aesthetics of comics, manga and her surroundings, she built a colourful, voluptuous and poetic universe.
Her totem animal, the panda — both gentle and powerful — quickly became the thread running through her work. A versatile artist, she moves between portraits, decorative settings, trompe l'oeil, murals and installations, enriching her style through numerous collaborations. She initially painted women, often nudes, and customised clothing to bring art into everyday life, before the panda established itself as her visual signature.
Doudou Style won the Graffiti Prize in 2018. She went on to found the association Madapaint with several fellow graffiti artists to promote street art in Martinique. Her work is documented on Creapolis and Street Art Cities, and covered by Cultures Urbaines and Créole News.
