Biography
Born in Paris in 1973 to Russian and Ukrainian parents, Alex discovered graffiti at the age of thirteen and began painting lettering and characters across the Parisian suburbs from 1987. Part of the second generation of European graffiti writers, he moved through several crews — MAC, 3HC, TNB — where he honed the portraiture and figurative skills that would become his hallmark.
Recognized by peers as one of the leading figures in French figurative graffiti, the artist paints faces and bodies with finesse and precision, focusing on the expression in the eyes, textures, and contrasts. His subjects often feature strongly typed women — Indian or Melanesian — set within a graphic universe informed by comic books, Art Nouveau, and music. Since 2018, he has signed most of his work under the name Akhine.
Based in Saint-Ouen and active in Paris, he is a member of the Collectif Renart and regularly contributes to large-scale mural projects, including a portrait of Josephine Baker at the Maison Pour Tous du Bois l'Abbé. His work also appears in gallery settings and urban art events across the Île-de-France region.
