Biography
Kelig Le Bert, known as Smoka, is a French urban artist born in 1982 in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany. He has been drawing since childhood and discovered graffiti in the 1990s, producing his first murals in 1998. A self-taught perfectionist, he initially explored demanding lettering styles before studying graphic design in Quimper, merging his technical training with his painting practice.
In 2006 he joined the Collectif 100 Pression in Nantes, which introduced him to new formats — monumental facades, canvas and screen printing — and drew him into urban art projects across Europe. His mural work combines portraits, typography, patterns and textures in dynamic compositions that move between abstraction and figuration. Colour and pattern serve as the structural backbone of pieces that question human certainties against the reality of the natural world.
Now based in Nantes, he has painted large-scale murals in Saint-Brieuc, Charleville-Mézières, Agen and Paris, while regularly collaborating with fellow collective members. His figurative frescoes are designed to engage local residents and become a lasting part of the public space. He is represented by Galerie Jumble and takes part in festivals including Shake Art Festival and Colors Festival.
