Biography
José Carvalho, known as Oze Arv, is a Portuguese first-generation street artist based in Lisbon. Trained in visual arts and design, he began his projects in 1998, combining spray paint, stencils, illustration and photography to explore the contrasts of the urban environment.
His aesthetic blends nature and portraiture: stylized animals, vibrant birds and hybrid human-animal figures coexist in his work. The artist plays with contrasting palettes and complex chromatic transitions, layering a quasi-realistic line over clean graphic elements. The result composes an "animalistic vision of the contemporary city" where nature and concrete intertwine.
He has taken part in several editions of the MURO festival in Lisbon, notably in the "Incursões pela Arte" project with students from Escola Básica de Marvila. His murals are scattered across the Portuguese capital — including "Fado Tropical in RGB Tones" on Rua Natália Correia in Graça — and extend to other European cities (Berlin, Belgium, Italy, Oeiras).
