Biography
Born in Paris and steeped in graffiti culture from childhood, Stéphane — known as Nuxuno Xän — moved to Martinique at the age of eleven. Self-taught, he transitioned from underground vandalism to a practice focused on beautifying public spaces. As an illustrator and graphic designer, he founded the NPL crew and the Mada Paint association, key drivers of the Martinican street art scene.
His work explores tensions between tradition and modernity, humanity and the machine, through portraits and compositions that integrate tropical vegetation into mural painting. In 2013, his vegetalized portrait of Spike Lee on the walls of Fort-de-France — cleverly using a tree to represent the filmmaker's hair — went viral worldwide, bringing him international recognition. He participated in the Mix-Art Madinina festival and the first Martinique International Contemporary Art Biennial.
Based in Fort-de-France, he shares his knowledge of urban arts with Martinican youth through educational workshops, extending his reach from street walls to public and private spaces. His practice blends graffiti, body painting, and graphic design into a visual language rooted in Caribbean identity.
