Biography
Originally from Clermont-Ferrand, David Bartex is a self-taught artist based in Nantes who makes painting his primary mode of expression. His early years in Nantes led him to accompany the Royal de Luxe company to Latin America, where extensive travels deepened his attraction to exoticism, cultural blending, and bold use of color.
In 2011, he designed Le Mur tombé du ciel for Royal de Luxe, a monumental mural created for the El Xolo show in Nantes. This permanent work, produced with seven artists in a style inspired by Diego Rivera's murals, depicts nearly three hundred iconic figures from Nantes' history — from the Middle Ages to the present day — blending historical characters with colorful local personalities.
His creations, often fanciful and exuberant, are marked by their sensuality and chromatic richness. Rooted in the Nantes urban landscape, the artist continues to produce murals and wall paintings that transform the city's surfaces into vivid visual narratives, shaped by Latin American influences and a passion for cross-cultural exchange.
