Natalia Rak

Biography

Natalia Rak is a Polish artist born in 1986, a graduate of the Art High School in Radom and the University of Łódź, where she studied graphic design and fine art. Originally a canvas painter, she moved into street art in 2009, showing her first murals in Łódź. Her eclectic training in illustration, pop-up books, packaging and poster design feeds a distinctive style rooted in a love of Art Nouveau.

Her monumental frescoes depict female figures caught in surreal scenarios, drawing on classical narratives such as Adam and Eve and Romeo and Juliet. A vivid colour palette underpins realistic compositions charged with mystery and metaphor. In 2013, her mural "Legend of the Giants" in Białystok was reproduced on a Polish postage stamp, recognised as the most original in the "Sztuka ulicy — Street Art" series. That same year, a mural she created at the SCABB festival was filmed by CNN.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, she paints across the globe — Dunedin, Ragusa, Providence, Berlin, Napa, Port Adelaide — and takes part in festivals including MURAL in Montréal and Stroke Art Fair in Berlin. She also collaborates with Street Art for Mankind on projects raising awareness of human rights.
