Kafé Korsé

Kafé Korsé

Biography

A native of Nantes, Nicolas Bertaud — known as Kafé Korsé — developed a passion for drawing as a child and discovered large-format work during high school after a formative encounter. In 2005, he took up graffiti and spent over fifteen years building a practice as a multi-medium illustrator, shaped by manga, comic books, and graffiti writers Reso and Persu.

His graphic universe blends urban influences with surrealist references — Magritte, Dalí, Escher — in compositions where humor serves as a vehicle for messages about overconsumption, pollution, and hyperconnectivity. The artist seeks contrasts between blur and sharpness, past and present, favoring spontaneity over pure aesthetics. Detailed characters and visual wordplay are his hallmarks, driven by a self-proclaimed love of good food and puns.

Based in Nantes, where he works from the Le 67 studio space, he paints the city's walls with spray cans while developing a parallel studio practice in acrylic on canvas. He regularly contributes to collective projects such as Transfert, Le Lavomatik, and Street Part, and sells originals, screenprints, and limited-edition canvases.
