Biography
Originally from South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, Mike Makatron has been painting since the age of six and settled in Melbourne, where he became a fixture of the local street art scene. A member of the Everfresh crew alongside Rone, Phibs, Sync, and Stabs, he works across aerosol, acrylic, oils, and illustration, bringing the same energy to walls, canvas, and paper.
His murals celebrate nature in all its splendor, tinged with fantasy and psychedelia. Lush jungles, elephants, rhinos, bees, and cosmic landscapes unfold in compositions bursting with detail and vibrant color. Notable interventions include Jungle Funk, commissioned by Melbourne's Green Your Laneways program, and a three-dimensional sculpture of Bon Scott bursting through a wall in AC/DC Lane.
A tireless traveler, he has painted murals from the Berlin Wall to the banks of the Ganges, leaving his mark on facades across dozens of cities worldwide. His work was acquired for the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Australia as part of the Space Invader exhibition.
