Mural Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Agustina Bessa-Luís in Pictures

22 January 2023

Agustina Bessa-Luís is one of the most successful contemporary Portuguese authors. She was awarded the Sant'Iago Sword Order.

She won the Camões Prize, the most important literary award for the Portuguese language, in 2004.

Since she began writing in 1948, she has devoted herself almost exclusively to literary creation and has maintained an unusual rhythm of publishing in Portuguese literature.

Thirteen artists - including the writer's daughter, Mónica Baldaque - paid tribute to Agustina on a mural outside the CCDR-Norte, in Campo Alegre. On 120 meters, paintings allude to the essential work of the writer.
