Where to find street art in Łódź (Poland)
Łódź stands as one of the world's leading street art destinations: in 2014, Bored Panda ranked the city second globally for urban art after New York, and the Huffington Post named it "The Artiest City." The Urban Forms Foundation, established in 2009, drove the transformation of this former industrial centre into a permanent open-air gallery, with more than 170 buildings now carrying large-scale murals painted directly onto their facades.
Most works are concentrated in the city centre, around the tenement houses lining Piotrkowska Street — where the first modern mural was painted in 2001 by the Design Futura group at number 152 — and in the courtyards of surrounding blocks. The Urban Forms Gallery is a permanent outdoor exhibition spread across dozens of facades in the central districts, featuring artists from over twenty countries.
The local scene is anchored by Etam Crew and M-City, alongside major international contributors including Os Gemeos (a 2013 mural with Aryz), Inti, ROA, Bordalo II and Eduardo Kobra. The annual Urban Forms festival brings together artists from Poland, Brazil, Chile, France and Spain. Marked routes let visitors explore the works independently across Łódź.
