Where to find street art in Burgos (Spain)

Street art gained momentum in Burgos from the 2010s, driven by local merchants and municipal support. The Gamonal neighbourhood, built in the 1960s-70s with utilitarian brick architecture, became the main hub through the Barrio de Genios project, launched in 2016 by the Zona G merchants' association. The initiative won the 2017 Premio Ciudad de Burgos a la Creatividad.

Over 34 interventions have transformed Gamonal, with works by Sergare, Dr Crea, and Rachel Merino covering blank walls, containers, bus shelters, and shop facades. In 2024, Francisco Grandmontagne Street hosted a temporary installation as part of the city's candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2031. Further afield, the Santa Catalina neighbourhood in Aranda de Duero counts around twenty murals.

Tinte Rosa (Esteban Espinosa), from Miranda de Ebro, gained international recognition when his mural "Amamanto" was ranked the fourth best in the world by Street Art Cities. Nano Lázaro is another figure associated with large-format works across the province. The scene develops without a major dedicated festival, supported by Junta de Castilla y León funding and active neighbourhood associations.
