Martynas Ivinskas, born on December 15th, 1976, in Kaunas, Lithuania, moved to the capital city, Vilnius, with his family at the age of one. His early exposure to the art world was inevitable as his father was a photographer and his mother an architect, resulting in their home being a constant hub of artistic activity. Surrounded by artists from a young age, he formed personal connections with many of them, shaping his upbringing.
During high school, Ivinskas attended a music school where he honed his skills as a cellist. This musical influence continues to manifest in his paintings, with the cello frequently appearing as a recurring motif that holds a special place in his heart.
His journey into the world of visual art commenced in 1990, but it wasn't until February of 2003, during a transformative experience in New York City, that his personal awakening occurred. He referred to this pivotal moment as "POFICK," a period in which his art gained form and profound meaning. He envisioned POFICK not only as a concept within paintings but also as a broader artistic movement, offering a unique worldview and lifestyle. Just as Fluxus had its place, Pofick found its own.
Presently, Martynas Ivinskas resides in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Los Angeles, USA, where he continues to develop and express his distinctive artistic vision.
