Born in 1986, GRAFFMATT is a French urban artist living in Chambéry, Savoie. Although he had been drawing since childhood, it wasn't until 2010 that he began to delve into graffiti, initially in abandoned places and later as part of a collective in public spaces. After earning a degree in Visual Communication in Lyon, GRAFFMATT worked as a graphic designer until 2018 when he decided to leave it all behind and fully devote himself to painting. His inspiration primarily stems from the urban landscape, which serves as a mirror reflecting our ever-evolving society. During his travels, GRAFFMATT immerses himself in the urban hustle and bustle, photographing people in their surroundings. He observes how individuals blend into an environment that is supposed to reassure them, yet they pay it less and less attention. His work, a blend of portraits and urban landscapes, bears witness to the frenetic pace of our contemporary society, with movement as a recurring theme in his art.

Combining his fondness for graffiti with graphic design skills, GRAFFMATT has developed a style where drawing takes a predominant place in his artistic work. Using a monochromatic palette of black and white, he also harnesses the expressive potential of fluorescent colors to convey a sense of fragility and power. This quest for contrast and dynamism leads him to merge aerosol and acrylic, adding various textures to immerse the viewer in an atmosphere that suggests both sensuality and vulnerability.
