Where to find street art in Clermont-Ferrand (France)
Street art took root in Clermont-Ferrand in the early 2000s, shaped by a locally driven scene. The mosaic artist Space Invader marked the city as early as 2001 and returned for a second wave in 2016. The movement gained institutional recognition in January 2018 with the launch of Such'Art, a 2.6-kilometre walking route through the historic centre created by the SUC association (Franck Ferrer and Christophe Thomas) in partnership with Galerie Rosa Da Rua. The circuit maps around 44 artistic sites spanning graffiti, collage, mosaics, and yarn bombing, with a printed city guide and the Cirkwi mobile app.
Works are concentrated along the central plateau, threading through streets such as Rue Abbé Girard, Rue Savaron, Rue Grégoire de Tours and Rue des Chaussetiers, starting from Place de la Victoire. The Saint-Jacques neighbourhood hosts several murals, while the Jerecycle Parc at 32 Boulevard Édouard Michelin — run by Recyclart-Auvergne — serves as a year-round space for artist interventions. Along the tram line, between La Chaux and Cézeaux Pellez stops, 23 artists covered 1,300 m² for the tram's tenth anniversary, coordinated by the Les Trans'urbaines festival.
The local scene brings together collectives such as EndtoEnd (founded 2009) and Supreme Legacy alongside artists including Epok, Waro, RepyOne and Sirob. In 2022, six large-scale murals were unveiled on June 9th by Mayor Olivier Bianchi through the city's first participatory budget: Spanish artist Aryz painted a tribute to firefighters on Chaussée Claudius, Italian artist Tellas created a botanical fresco on Rue Jean Richepin, and Lyon-based Loraine Motti contributed a piece on Rue du Pont Naturel.
